26 Jan – 22 March 2012 – extended to 11 April 2012
For 6 Chairs, Art House Foundation invited Rupert Ackroyd, Matthew Darbyshire, Caroline Rolf, Mark Titchner, Keith Wilson and Alison Wilding to introduce a chair – found or of their own design – into its exhibition space for a period of 9 weeks. These chairs were made available to different groups at different times, both as objects of contemplation and for use in formal and informal meetings, classes, presentations and actions. Members of the Public could also book the use of the chairs during the project’s 9-week run.
A series of interventions, discussions and works were made on and around the chairs. During the summer 2012 Fraser Muggeridge’s Typography Summer School designed the resulting material into 7 one off publications.
